The Rodeo Labs (Actual) Spork
$25.00
For about a decade, Rodeo has been offering our Spork adventure bike forks on our own bikes, and to others who want to own them. The name “Spork” has always been a wink to the fact that our bike forks are simply more capable and versatile than the rest in much the same way that the Spork utensil is more versatile than either a fork or a spoon.
As soon as we created the smiling Spork logo we wanted to also offer a smiling Spork utensil, but we were never able to solve how to make it efficiently. We joked that a laser cut smile would look incredibly cool, but would also make untensil useless for eating soup. We thought about having the smile embossed into the fork, but to do that meant creating special tooling and ordering 5,000 Sporks. As popular as our Spork is, we don’t think the market is quite that large. We considered painting and anodizing the smile as well, but all of that would have made the Spork utensil too expensive to justify.
Finally, this year, in a seventeen hour all hands on deck marathon meeting, we finally solved it: What if the smile was brushed and bright, and the rest of the Spork was satin, the way pretty much every titanium Spork in the world already was?
When we tested the idea on a single Spork, the results spoke for themselves: we’d done it. We split the atom. We acheived nuclear fission. We solved global warming. The little smile on the Spork made us smile. Mission accomplished. If we’ve accomplished nothing else in the last 12 years, the smiling Spork utensil made it all worth it.
We create each smiling Spork utensil here in our Denver HQ. They’re made of titanium, and are finished by hand in small batches. Lead time will be 1-3 days to ship each order, which allows for a new batch to be made if we’ve run out.

Let’s make a smiling Spork!

Step 1: Prep
We start with a lovely but plain titanium Sporks.
Step 2: Cut
We cut the smiles on our plotter, and weed the graphics by hand.

Step 4: Apply
We place each smile and maintain positional tolerances of 1/1,000,000 of a mm – all through the power of love.
Step 5: Blast
We want that smile to pop, so we blast everything else back to satin in our media blaster.
Step 6: Reveal
This is the best part: We peel back the yellow masking to reveal the gleaming smile contrasted against the satin titanium Spork. Joy floods the room.

Step 7: Enjoy
That’s it. We’ve done it. The smiling Spork is complete. All that’s left to do is to take it on a bikepacking trip, or perhaps you might opt to put it in your utensil drawer where it makes all the other forks and spoons jealous.
