For years we’ve wanted to create a full length cycling tight for the fall and winter months. We’ve been developing our successful Explorts bib shorts since 2019 with great success. After six years of experience with that garment, we thought it time to finally take on the challenge of a full length garment.

Work began in earnest earlier this year. Creating a functional bib tight isn’t as easy as simply sewing on longer legs. We created quite a few versions that didnt’ make the cut! The way that a full length cycling garment contours and bends must be fully considered so that the it does not have unsightly bunching or uncomfortable seams.

Also important is the fabric selected for the task. We always aim for a balanced amount of stretch and support, and to that we wanted to add enough insulation qualities to ride down into the freezing temperatures. As such, this tight is fleece lined in all but the upper bib straps, and insulates far more than a standard weight fabric would. We would consider the functional range for this tight to be in the 25F to 50F range, depending on personal preferences.

We’ve been working through iterations on this garment for the entirety of 2025, and now we’re at the point where we’re ready to invite our riding community to participate in an active beta much like we’ve done recently and successfully with our Explorts 3.0 bibshorts. We’re confident that we have something great on our hands, but we want to know what you think!

Notes:

The women’s cut is based on the unique version of the existing Women’s Explorts bibshorts. We need a larger data set for fit on women’s full length tights sizing, so we are opening a backorder for women’s tights at 50% the retail cost of the tights for anyone willing to try a pair and send us feedback. Those will arrive late January.

If / when we run out of in-stock inventory of the men’s cut, we will accept backorders for a couple of weeks. Those backorders will ship to customers near the end of January 2026.

Details and features.

An entirely new bib-tight.

Our Explorts Fleece Tights have a minimalist design aesthetic, with enough thoughtful details to remove any doubt that they are a Rodeo Labs creation.

An entirely new premium fabric.

The Explorts Fleece Tight use dyed uppers for a properly durable and opaque garment that will hold up to the abuses of inclement weather. The mesh cargo pockets and lower legs use a sublimated fleece lined fabric which allows us to differentiate our tights with unique Rodeo graphics.

Integrated rear pocket

The higher rear belt line and revised bib strap design allow us to incorporate a hidden central pocket on the lower back, which brings the total number of pockets on Explorts Fleece Tights to three, adding to the useful leg pockets that we’ve featured since our first bibshort designs. We couldn’t help but add some inspiration to the rear pocket, because anyone chosing to kit up and head out in cold weather might appreciate the additional motivation.

Ultra distance chamois

Explorts Fleece Tights carry over the ultra comfortable, peerless EIT chamois that we began using in the 1.1 revision of the shorts. We’ve tested a large number of chamois from a wide range of manufacturers for over the six years that we’ve refined our shorts, and we zeroed in on a market leading medium thickness chamois that isn’t overly padded but provides comfort long into a 10+ hour day or even across an extended multi day bikepacking journey. This isn’t just hyperbole as our bibs have been used with great success in ultra distance events the world over, from Tour Divide, to Atlas Mountain Race, to Colorado Trail race, to expeditions in Peru, across Europe, and the Americas.

Fit, sizing, returns, and exchanges.

We’ve designed our sizing to be as similar to the sizing of other major brands as possible. Definitely start there in terms of getting your fit right. Next, if you already own our Explorts shorts, you’ll find that the fit profile of the Explorts Fleece Tight is consistent that sizing.

Fit is also highly personal and there will always be variances in fit from person to person, especially with the new variable of leg length on full tights. We advise measuring and checking our sizing chart carefully before ordering. If you order the wrong size, we can exchange the shorts for another size if they are brand new / unridden as long as we have your desired size in stock and available. We reserve the right to deny refunds or exchanges for any shorts that appear to have been ridden or worn beyond trying on for fit. We will, at our discretion, repair, exchange, or refund any shorts that are found to have incorrect construction or flaws in materials.

The model shown in the first photo wears a Men’s Size Large. He is 6’1″ and weighs 185lbs and has a 33 inch waist. The model in the 2nd photo is 6’3″ and has a 32″ waist. He also wears a Large.

As a reminder: The men’s version of the tight is available in very limited quanitites right now. Once those sell out we will switch out to pre-orders which will arrive in later January.

The women’s specific version of the tight is available as a backorder and will arrive in later January. It is discounted while we try to gather more fit feedback from female riders.
